Crappies are in the deeper weeds and around lay-downs, so a slip bobber rig tipped with small minnow or plastic will work on these. Largemouths will be found around structure. Throwing spinnerbaits and plastic will work around pads and reeds. Northern are in the deeper weeds as the shallow weeds start to die. Walleye anglers will catch pike while jigging the deepest weed edges. Walleyes are also on the rock piles. Minnows are working better now. As the month goes on, these fish will start moving towards the deeper breaks.  Every strategy is working for muskies. As the water starts to cool off, muskies will start moving to the deepest of weed edges.

Ice cold water is the most deadly water on earth to all human b...

www.rodflyfishing2.com The Joys of Redfish Fishing The Joys of Redfish Fishing.   An interesting thing can be said about redfish fishing - you never run out of surprises. This is perhaps because the redfish is one of the most versatile fish in the world. While it is typically considered a saltwater fish, it can also inhabit brackish and even fresh water. There is no real specified depth at which redfish fishing is most productive, either. In fact, sometimes redfish are found in just a few inches of water, whereas other times, redfish fishing involves casting a line as deep as 150 feet to the ocean floor. What it boils down to is this: redfish fishing is an extremely popular saltwater sport, but before you can pursue the venture, you have to first find these elusive fish. Many anglers refer to these babies as shallow water fish, but the definition of "shallow" is purely subjective. One way to assure a good redfish fishing trip is to target extremely shallow waters, looki...

Combatting Illegal Fishing

Image
Combatting Illegal Fishing It is estimated that one in five fish caught has been fished illegally, the product of an illicit global business worth an estimated $23 billion each year. Large fishing vessels, operating far from land and the eyes of the authorities, plunder tuna and other high value catches wherever they can find them. Off-loading their catch to factory ships, which re-supply them with food and fuel, fishing boats can stay at sea for years. The cost is not just financial; crews are often kept on board against their will, economic slaves. The challenge of finding the criminals and gathering evidence against them in the middle of an ocean is described by Koebel Sakuma, adviser to Palau’s president, “We’re a small country with limited resources and we’re responsible for patrolling a vast area with one vessel donated by Australia.” The Pew Charitable Trusts, a US based Non-Government Organisation (NGO) approached the Satellite Applications Catapult to see how space...
