Spin Fishing

http://www.kiwi36.com  Spin Fishing Spin fishing is an ideal way to begin trout fishing as the skills involved are easily mastered. A basic outfit of rod, reel and line, plus a few lures are all that is necessary to give the novice a chance of catching trout. Watercraft and knowledge of trout habits learned while spin fishing are equally useful in other forms of trout fishing such as fly-fishing. Spin fishing, or to use its common name, thread  lining, is fishing for trout with lures that imitate small fish.   These lures are cast with a thread line outfit consisting of a mixed spool reel loaded with suitable monofilament line, and a short, single-handed spinning rod, ideally between 1.80m and 2.40m long. Tackle Reel The reel is the most important part of a spinning outfit and, like most things in life, you get what you pay for. Buy the best you can afford. Reels are available in right or left-hand wind or ambidextrous models. Buy a right or left hand wind model as suits you. There

http://kiwi36.com Turning Bum casts into Crafty Presentations  I am off the opinion that many presentation casts simply are controlled casting faults. Deviations of the Rod tip from the straight-line path during the casting stroke are often viewed as faults, and this is true whilst they still preformed unintentionally. However, once you have gained control of these faults, they can often be used to great effect. Follow me. One of the most common faults I see with these self-taught anglers is the inability to perform a high backed cast. As your back cast drops below the rod tip, you lose tension throughout the line, and must use much of the rods stored energy, to lift the line up and over the rod tip again. The result is often a high trajectory forward cast, which piles up at your feet. There are two common causes of I low in efficient back cast: The first involves incorrectly using the wrist throughout the cast. Forget the all boys advice of 'and keep a firm wrist' or ‘d

To Days Fishing

http://kiwi36.com/ Well we were up at 4.30am and away to the lake, it is the first day of the trout season. It rained all morning with a cold South Westerly blowing up the lake. Boats every where so we were not the only silly (buggers) but by lunch time we had hooked and lost one, but then it stopped raining and being more pleasant we had a new lease of life and keenness we caught a nice fish in the afternoon but that was all for the first day. The ones we did not catch live for another day, but it was good to get out and catch up with some of our mates and have time out in the fresh air.

Wet Fly Fishing

http://kiwi36.com   Traditional wet fly This method of fly-fishing has a lot in its favor as far as the beginner is concerned and on occasions is very useful to the expert. Some experienced anglers look down on wet fly fishing but it can be an extremely effective method of catching trout. The basic technique is to cast the fly downstream and across the river, letting the current carry the fly around till it is below the angler and then recasting. After each cast or two the angler takes a couple of steps downstream, gradually covering all the water within his reach. Any trout that takes the fly can be felt and the rod is lifted to set the hook. The downstream angle of the cast is varied according to the speed of the current. The faster it is, the further downstream the cast is made and, conversely, the slower the current is, the further across the cast is made. By varying the casting angle any speed of water can be fished effectively from fast ripples to slow, deep pools. Depth
